The advent of schools built by Christian missionaries into Aku 1920 brought in its train a chain of revolutionary knowledge
culminating in the acquisition of ‘‘Education’’ from written books and papers. Through education Aku
people were among the in the Eastern Nigeria to appreciate the importance and need for enhanced knowledge in modern education
thus taking the now famous steps in introducing ‘‘Universal free education’’ for its children of school
age as far back as 1944. The school fees and books for these children were paid for through communal efforts and administration.
This wise action helped to good deal in the perennial rapid growth of the number of educated citizens. As a result of our
recognition of our educational prowess and potential Aku people have grown to be proud but respectful citizens, ever pursuing
educational attainments. All these achievements have come as a result of education and the determination of its citizens to
hold their heads as high as those of their counterparts in other developing and developed centers in this parts of Nigeria.
It is also on spirit of fast Go-Gotterness
That an Aku man was the first in Nsukka senatorial zone to get B.sc degree in 1952. He is Mr.Josaih Okechukwu Amu –Nnadi.
We have to continue to improve on this lest; because in the slumber of our apparent satisfaction, we shall be left only to
sprawl on the ground to see other communities outrun us in the great race for survival and competition. Aku town, today more
than ever is in dire need of right type of educated elements to keep her the right path and to take full responsibility for
its schools, hospitals, roads, electricity and water supply and other public utilities.
